June 2009 California Spring Break Trip

ThanksGiving in Del Norte, Christmas in Idaho.  Jon and I agree that to us, family is most important.  We try to do things together and we try to include grandparents, cousins, and our siblings in as much as we can.  We work hard but we have fun playing, too.  We spent Spring Break in Palm Springs with his parents and mine.  We went on to Los Angeles where we enjoyed seeing Jay Leno and going to my Uncle Lee and Aunt Chloe's beach house, where my Dad joined us.  What a great time we had! We all thought the Hollywood sign was especially fun - David had Hollywood in the palm of his hand!

June 1st is here and we have had a busy past few months.  We have  Jon's 104 year old grandma "Mema", who is undergoing radiation for cancer here for awhile.  It is great to have her with us.  Our later summer plans include Jon climbing Mt. Whitney and Heather and I going to the American Idol concert tour in SLC in July.

We've been landscaping our front yard, planting trees, fixing the corvette, and hoping to get the boat out at least a few times this year.

Climbing the Grand Teton

In August, Jon and friends Lamont McMurtrey, Robyn Bradbury and Dave Angus accomplished their long aspired goals of climbing the Grand Teton near Jackson, Wyoming. While they had prepared for the climb physically and mentally for weeks, the wives and I looked forward to a trip of shopping, hiking and sightseeing. While the men were exerting themselves on the two day, 14 pitch, technical climb, Alane, Nancy, MarrLin and I enjoyed ourselves in the beautiful mountains of the national park. The morning they were to reach the summit of the Grand, the girls and I drove to the Idaho side of the Tetons to Grand Targhee Ski Resort, where we set up our spotting scope and hoped to get a glimpse of them on top of the Grand. Just as we were ready to give up, MarrLin spotted them as we received a phone call from Robyn, saying they had just reached the summit! It was so amazing to see their tiny shadowed figures so far away, waving at us down below. We all had a fabulous time. The spectacular views the men had and the fortitude they demonstrated were truly amazing. What a great time!!

David's View of Trunk or Treating

We have a tradition of going trunk or treating at our church parties, which is really fun. We get all gussied up in our costumes and then we set off into the deep dark depths of the night to our church. I happend to be a vampire or well...a mix of costumes really. I had on red contacts and i had an akatsuki robe from naruto (if you have ever heard of it) and well some red food coloring on my face because red food coloring on skin looks like blood =) i tried it out my self on my sister she TOTALLY freaked out! Then i got in trouble unfortunately. =( My mom was a person in her footy pjs with a wittle teddy bear snug in her hand, it was truly hilarious. My dad was a hippy (He looked like ozzy osborn lol) my brother was hippy also but he didn't look as much like Ozzy as my dad. They both had guitars. My sister was a girl from the fifties with boufant hairstyle ( I don't know what boufant means so don't ask me). My mother decorated out car's trunk with lights, dead looking people, and pumpkins for the trunk or treaters. Trunk or treating is basically trick or treating just it's in a parking lot and you go around to the trunks of every car to get the yummy, succulent, delicious, mouth watering, scrumptious, parcels of freaking good candy!!!

I won the contest for most ghoulish (the prize was a pumpkin. It was a ginormous rip off!) my mom says i need to be greatful for the pumpkin but i on the other hand am, just not as much as i would of been if it was yummy, succulent, delicious, mouth watering, scrumptious, parcels of freaking good candy!!!! I am looking forward to halloween so i will see you then in your dreams haunting every second of the ghoulish night mares!!!! goodbye :p

Elk Hunting

Jon and I went Elk Hunting for a week. We camped in the back of our truck and slept under the stars. We got to hear the coyotes howl under the full moon and the elk bugle all night long. What an experience! We saw gorgeous country, hiked up and down mountains and rode our 4 wheelers, too! It was a great time. We will enjoy simmering the tender elk meat for roasts, chilis and shishkabob.

4-Wheeling near Estes Park

We love our weekends when we have time to spend them with friends. We recently went 4-wheeling near Estes Park and enjoyed the fabulous fall colors together with MarrLin and Dave Angus.

June Wedding 2008

Our summer started out with our son Andrew marrying his sweetheart Michelle Oliver. They were married in the Denver LDS Temple June 7th. They had a beautiful ceremony afterward, with so many supportive family members coming from far away. My sister Janine's two girls were flower girls; so adorable. It was a beautiful day for our family.
